We are looking forward to this unique interactive opportunity for international genetic counseling program directors and professional organizations and credentialing bodies that represent genetic counselors. Our cooperative interchange will consider the profession in its quickly evolving international context, create sharing that will enhance our educational programs and foster the transnational development of the genetic counseling profession.

Specific Objectives

Genetic Counseling Education:  Connecting the Global Community

  • Learn from each other as we consider the global evolution of genetic counseling

  • Explore training, accreditation and certification criteria between countries

  • Share curricular resources and teaching strategies

  • Create avenues for collaboration among international programs in education, student/faculty exchange and genetic counseling research

  • Document the international status of genetic counselor education through publication of pre-conference research and the conference proceedings

This International Working Conference
is supported by the 2004-2005
Jane Engelberg Memorial Fellowship,
an annual grant from the Engelberg Foundation
to the National Society of Genetic Counselors, Inc.
