We are
pleased to welcome Dr. Geoffrey McLennan of the
University of the Iowa, Carver College of Medicine as our keynote
conference facilitator. A leader in academic medicine in
his fields of pulmonology and biomedical engineering,
Dr. McLennan has also tapped the energy of transnational
collaborations through his leadership of the Iowa-City
Adelaide Transnational Alliance. We look forward to
learning from his experience as he assists us in
considering transnational relationships within the
genetic counseling community.
Dr.
McLennan will be with us throughout the conference,
assisting our process of collaboration.

His keynote address:
Academic
Globalization: Transnational Potential within Genetic
Counseling
From Dr. McLennan,
I look
forward to working with each of you as we consider
global interaction via the computer mediated information
revolution. We will define the critical components of
transnational collaboration as we share experiences with
the barriers, successes and failures of the
transnational model. We will also explore the concept
of the public good in the transnational context and in
relation to the complex web of personal, political,
religious, technological, institutional and national
objectives that constitute the health care paradigm.
