Topics in genetic counselling -two years

Clinical genetics/Genetic conditions managed outside genetic services/
Qualitative, evolutionary and developmental genetics - 1 semester
Introduction to research methods- 1 semester
Ethical, legal and social aspects of genetics - 1 semester
Education and communication in genetic counselling - 1 semester |

CLINICAL TRAINING: |
2 days/week in two community placement throughout first year.
Two placements in clinical genetics services throughout second year-
part of each is full time, part interwoven with coursework. |

ACCREDITATION: |
Curriculum is consistent with the recommendations of the Association of
Genetic Nurse Counsellors. Validation of course through university.
Registration as a genetic counsellor is by the AGNC Registration Board
(www.agnc.co.uk) |
